RUSSIAN OUTBOUND TOURISM MARKET SHORT NEWS

  • The waiting time to register/apply to US visa for Russians has increased to 2-3 months. This is following political incidents between both countries.
     

  • As of 1 November 2017 France will process visas for Muscovite tourists in 48 hours.
     

  • The tour operator Ted Travel declared bankruptcy on 24 August 2017 in Russia and reported that the reasons are connected to cancellations and decline of bookings to Turkey because of Coxsacka virus. The number of affected Russian tourists is over 3000 people.
     

  • Direct flights between Russia and Indonesia are postponed to 2018 as per the Consul of Indonesia in Russia. The direct flights were supposed to start in August 2017.
     

  • The Ukrainian tour operator Indriska Tour went bankrupt end of August 2017 because of a conflict with its bank. Indriska Tour was in operation since 2006.
     

  • Delta Airlines will stop flights between the USA and Russia as of September 2017
     

  • As per the figures of the Ministry of Tourism of Maldives, the number of Russians who visited the country in the first 6 months of 2017 has increased by 36.8% compared to 2016.
     

  • Direct flights between Egypt and Russia will remain suspended until end of 2018
     

  • 34.400 Russians visited Malaysia in the 5 months of 2017 which is 38% higher compared to the same period in 2006.
     

  • The Russian Association of Tour Operators has reported an increase of trips from Russia to the UK by over 40% trips as the ruble strengthens against the British pound.
